Who wrote or made it a rule to write your resolutions for the coming year before the year arrived? I’m suggesting, instead of making yourself stress out (happens to me all the time) about what you want to accomplish next year, I’d wait – celebrate the ball drop and then take the new year week to really reflect, one resolution a day, 24 hours to mull it over. Do this on the first week of the year, why, because we’re all ecstatic the first week of a new year. Everyone is looking at the New Year as a clean slate, a new start so-to-speak. For me, it’s been way more relaxing, positive and above all realistic. Here’s my 7 days – 7 resolutions proposal entries.
- Resolution #1: One word for 2009 – “VALUE” – A promise & a suggestion.
- Resolution #2: Really going to try to get better at this because I suck! – “PUNCTUALITY” For those like me, some tips…http://is.gd/eolx.
- Resolution #3: Small steps = Big overall output – “CONSISTENCY” – Keep it going!
- Resolution #4: My wife is going to love this one – “HAPPINESS” – Try to start the day & end the day… (this is gonna be hard).
- Resolution #5: Because I need to… – “UNPLUG” – Ideas come by when you’re not waiting. I like Old small towns & nature (opposite of where I live, NYC).
- Resolution #6: I AM a multi-talented artist and I need to be – “CREATIVE” – If I get “blocked” on one thing, I will move to create another.
- Resolution #7: This may be an oxymoron but – “HELPFUL & SELFISH” – So I’ll do for others but have to do for me in order to do for others. Make sense?
Now with that lets be real, we’re all not perfect and we will slack at times or become distracted by life. If a project you’re working on falls by the wayside, don’t feel guilty – I do all the time and the feeling sucks – and put it off more, do a “reset” and pick it up again. If it’s not life threatening, emotionally catastrophic or financially destroying just “reset.”
Tell me more resolutions for me to learn, catalog and pass on below in a comment. Me asking you this favor is part of my Resolution #7!

I like your list! #2 is one of my main goals. Consistency brings on balance…and that's exactly what I need and desire. I will be shure to think about my list and blog about it. Thanks. Enjoy the moment!
Thank you, glad you like it. Uhh #2 is gonna be the death of me. In order for me to get ANYWHERE on time I have to aggressively lie to my body clock. I'm of Puerto Rican decent so I (more often than not) run on "Puerto Rican time." LOL! There's way too much pressure having to think about things such as resolutions under the gun (so-to-speak). Please, take your time then share yours!
You could add #8 – if at first you don't succeed at 1 thru 7 – give yourself a break, pick yourself up, dust off, and have at it
Technically I did say that so I guess that would be #8. I'll give that one to you
. Thanks for commenting!
I believe in starting New Years Resolutions slightly before the new year begins, it helps put me in the proper state of mind, and makes me feel like if have the jump on things. Sometimes I make New resolutions anytime of year just because I need too. This year, since I'm trying to get in the habit and better with this internet social networking communicating stuff, I'll be posting one new resolution per day until the new year. Fourteen resolutions/days to go.
